Eating Cleaner

Happy Monday!

Today I'm talking about my weight-loss journey, and the main focus as of this moment is eating cleaner! Late last year, I decided it was time that I really put energy into getting healthy and losing some weight. When I started my goal the main thing I focused on was the gym, because to be honest that was the easiest thing for me. I'm not saying that I absolutely love the gym but it was easy to go to the gym for an hour and forget about being healthy after that.

Then this semester happened, where my course had intensified and I couldn't make my four times a week gym date anymore, I had to do the hard thing. Which is eating cleaner, and any college student can tell you that eating healthier is not easy or more fun. If you are trying to get healthier or lose weight, people say its 90% diet and 10% fitness. I think this is a different challenge that will definitely benefit me, even more than last year and i'm still trying to balance it all. To be honest, now that i'm clean eating throughout the week, I still find myself almost binging during the weekends, and i'm not sure how detrimental that is to my diet, but I'm just letting you know I still have some work to be done.

My meals consists of chicken, brown rice and broccoli, or some type of fish, brown rice and asparagus. It's very repetitive but it works haha maybe one day i'll experiment with healthier recipes. If you have some ideas let me know in the comments below. So that's what I'm doing now, I'll let you know the results after awhile. Fingers crossed this all works out!

Essential Oils

I love Essential Oils!

Never thought I would join the hype of essential oils but I did... just kidding. Honestly, all I need is a little hype and I'm more than likely going to want to try it out. That is exactly what happened with essential oils because I would have never tried it out without others talking about it.

Now there are literally hundreds of oils that have different uses so it's definitely something you have to research.I'm going to let you know some of my favorite oils. Peppermint oil, tea tree oil and lavender are the three that I use all the time. If you are just starting out, I suggest that you buy the starter kits on amazon, those are great ways to jump in the essential oils world or just try it out with those three that I recommended because those are the ones that I use the most that people my age might also enjoy. I use peppermint oil and tea tree oil in my hair. you can put them in your shampoo or hair oil. I also use peppermint oil on my forehead when I get headaches. I also put Lavender oil and peppermint oil in my oil defuser at night to help me go to sleep.

Amazon has the best prices for essential oils but you can research to find more brands. I would suggest youtube to find out more about the different brands and different oils because that is what helped me discover more about oils.

Let me know what your favorite oils to use are in the comments below!

Gone Girl Review

Who would know that my blog would become a book blog??

It's not FYI, but something that I wanted to do this year was read more books. And I thought that I would review some of the books that I really love, or do posts about the books that I read throughout the year. This blog really wouldn't fit with one genre at this time, I'm just writing about what I do/ what I love. Hopefully the wide variety of topics won't overwhelm people that find this blog.

Anyway, the first book that I'm writing about is Gone Girl, and the hype has come and gone for this book. I've always wanted to ready this book, but never actually set out the time for it or any book to be honest. So when I started to pick up reading, one of the first books I picked up was Gone Girl. It's about a husband, Nick Dunne, who's wife, Amy Dunne, goes missing and his quest to find out what happened to her while people suspect him of her disappearance. Most people probably already knows what happened because it's been out for awhile, but i'm not going to spoil it for anyone planning to read it.

Overall, this book is a good book, It wasn't the perfect book for me because it definitely had it's slow moments. While there were slow moments, there was definitely moments where I was totally enthralled in the book and had to know what happened next. I kinda expected the big moments in the book because things had been spoiled for me, but if you are going in kinda blind to this story, I expect that you would think the big moments are SUPER great. Overall, this is a good book to read if you like thriller books, and are into twists and turns. It's not for people who are sensitive to adult themes so if you don't like that than you probably won't like this book as well.

If you've read this book, tell me what you thought about it in the comments below!

P.S. : I have a goodreads account if you would like to know what i'm reading, what i want to read and my basic reviews on the books that i've read. You can check it out here!

7 Goals for 2017!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

I hope you all had a fun and safe New Year.  I hope 2017 is a wonderful and momentous year for all of us and that we all grow! 2016 was a great year for me personally, for the world, meh not so much :/ but overall its a new year with new goals and new opportunities. So here are my resolutions for 2017.

  • Spend more time reading the bible - I fell of the wagon with this recently, from school and other things I put off reading my bible and that's horrible. So this year I really need to dig into the word and make this a priority!
  • Be more productive throughout the week - now this is something that i've worked on this last year, and I feel like I've been very productive. But i just want to continue to improve and continue to be motivated
  • No sugar throughout the work week - I've been working out very well, but if you are trying to shed a few pounds then most people will tell you that eating is 80% of the journey. My eating habits have been horrible so I really need to work on that.
  • Be more thoughtful when spending money - I can't tell you how much money i've waisted on makeup that I really didn't need. So this year I'm really working on how I spend my money.
  • Eat Cleaner - this needs no explanation lol
  • Take more pictures - I've been doing a project with polaroids and I realized that I really need to start taking more pictures. Just so I have more memories of the people I love!
  • Don't live so reserved - I think that i've lived my life very safely, not like most 23 year olds, and i'm proud of how i've lived my life. I dont want people to think that I'm trying to go crazy and wild because that is definitely NOT what I want to do. But I do want to start saying yes to more things and have more adventures!
I started this tradition last year with myself and i'm going to start it on my blog this year, and it's the Bible Verse of the Year. Last year's was Isaiah 12:2. This year's is:
"God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved; God shall help her, just at the break of dawn"
~ Psalms 46:5 NKJV
That is my theme verse for the year, something I meditate on throughout the year and I found this verse and I love it. I encourage you to find a verse this year that you want to meditate on throughout the year and just keep your heart on while we go through 2017

What are your resolutions for this year? Let me know in the comments below!

Top 3 Makeup Products

Okay as a Makeup Junkie, I have to admit I have bought into the hype of many of products. A lot have dissapointed  me but there are some that have made me the literal heart-eye emoji. Here are my top makeup items I have to have and some product faves!

1) Foundation - I can not live life without foundation. I don't "Hate" my skin but I'm not in love with it either. I have to admit that those acne scars are still a problem that i have to deal with today. But its not just about covering up acne scars, foundation is just fun to apply. That might sound weird but I absolutely love applying foundation, the act alone is fun! My favorite foundation is the L'Oréal Pro Matte foundation. I have to mix the two darkest shades for my shade but for my oily skin girls, this foundation is amazing!

2) Liquid Lipstick - I'm addicted to this stuff, it's a serious problem. I had to stop buying them because it was getting to a ridiculous point. If you want a long-lasting lipstick and haven't tried this type of lipstick yet. Then what are you waiting for? they are drying on the lips but they last for a long time! My favorite brand would be the Anastasia Beverly Hills liquid lipsticks. They are super creamy and look amazing on the lips. I need to try the Kylie lipsticks, but not before I use up some of the lipsticks I already have.

3) Mascara - Mascara is a necessity in my opinion. You can throw on mascara without any other makeup product and it instantly enhances your look. I have two favorite mascaras, the L'Oréal Telescopic Carbon Black Mascara and the Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.

So here are some of my favorite products! I hope you try some of these and let me know what you think. What are your favorite products let me know in the comments below!

Where Have I Been?

Life I tell you... It's been something..

My 20's have been a rollercoaster of emotions and life events that have changed me tremendously. Growing up I pictured my 20s to be this great time in my life, where I would be having fun, graduating college, and just living the good life. IT HAS NOT BEEN THAT WAY. That sounds depressing and discouraging, and to be honest it has been. But something happened this year that made me realize that this is how it is for almost all of my generation. No matter how many happy/ perfect life pictures people post on Facebook or Instagram, I can promise you everyone is struggling with something. Because that is life, that's just how the cookie crumbles. We all get a deck of cards handed to us and how we play those cards is exactly up to us. This year has been me, getting my life together, figuring out what I actually want, how to better myself, how to better life for myself. If you are struggling with where you are in life, I highly suggest that you have that moment with yourself, where you are brutally honest and go over what you actually want out of life. Once you figure that out, break down your goal into mini bite size pieces that you can take to get to that goal. And work your butt off for those goals! You have to put in that WORK! Honestly, that's what i've been doing, putting in that work. I'm back in school, working towards a degree and that takes a lot of time. I've been praying about my future, asking god, to show me what he wants for and from me. While getting a degree is something that I want to achieve, blogging is something that I feel is for me. It makes me happy typing these words, getting my opinions out into the world. So I'm trying this again. I can't promise you that I will blog consistently, I'm still trying to balance everything and get a good schedule going. I'm doing this because I want to connect with people, I want to type out the thoughts in my head, I want to have a little corner of the world people can go to that gives them escapes from their own problems. Because god knows how many times I have had to have something like that and youtube and bloggers have definitely given that to me. But honestly, helping people is what I want to do, what I was created to do. So here I am, here are my thoughts. I'm back in action, trying to figure it all out.
